Mundane in the Mainframe

Work has been boring again. But on a scale previously unseen. I mean really boring! Just about bite your arm off boring, and it did cross my mind to wonder how many days off I’d get if I chewed my own legs off. The major cause of this severe boredom I think is my new seating position. Now I have an annoying guy watching whatever I do, like a hawk too, I’d open media player and he’d pipe up gee that looks work related, except he’d say that before it’s even finished loading. What if I was using that to play mp3’s (like some massochists do) ? I don’t have any good things to say about this person, because frankly he creates about 50 bazillion times more work than any normal person would, and he doesn’t seem to do any himself (not that I do volumes and volumes of work either but meh).

To try to combat this, I installed Tinyproxy at home so I could at least watch youtube stuff (while at work). I also had a brief play with CakePHP, which was followed by a more thorough play before passing judgement. My judgement of it is, argh twitch and I started writing my own framework (let’s just say that Cake’s ORM is not an ORM). If the current situation doesn’t resolve itself, I’m just going to have to leave. Who care’s if I have a job or not. At least then I could do more in eve. Speaking of eve I haven’t played in over a week and half, partly due to playing with Cake and Guitar Hero 2.

Let me just say Guitar Hero 2 rocks. I feel it’s easier than the first, possibly because I completed it on medium without failing a single song, and I’m still stuck on Bark at the moon on the first one !

The only other new thing is Nintendo Wii, which I preordered with Red Steel (and Wii Play). I haven’t had much of a chance to play with it so far due to other stuff going on, but so far it’s fun but meh. Apart from that I’ve got nothing new on the new hobbies or interests front.

You Tube got unblocked at work. Bad idea. Not that I couldn’t get to it via a tunneled proxy anyway … but if it’s easy to get to, people will. Not only that, they’ll find stuff like (ok most of this is by the same guy, I’m noob at youtube); Power Rangers theme, Pokemon Theme, A Teenage mutant ninja turtles skit and intro parody

Oh and now we have daylight savings. The jackasses who advocate daylight savings time should just get up earlier by themselves and leave the rest of us to get some sleep. See I’m not the only one who thinks daylight savings sucks. I’m pro-choice, don’t force a retarded mandate about changing clocks onto everyone, solve the problem another way, say by changing standard office hours from 8-5 to 7-4 or something. But for the people who don’t care, like me, where the time I start doesn’t affect what I do (what do I do again?), so why force me to do something. If I wanted time in the evenings with the sun blazing outside, I’d start work earlier, and since I don’t start work early, maybe thats cause I prefer the cooler nights in summer against the hot afternoons which I now get in the evening. GRUMBLE

We had another lan, Reload 24. Apart from the piss poor turn out and some mother fucking ass monkey stealing a chain down switch it went well. The Wii was a big success and again Darren got pissed off with Guitar Hero. Next time we won’t be bringing GH1. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be part of Reload. I don’t get as much enjoyment out of it as like I used to, if any these days. It seems to be a large effort with no practical gain at all, that and it takes up a whole weekend from Friday midday through to Sunday night. Not to mention the inbetween lan stuff.

Say what you want about Jesus, but leave “The Rings” alone.
