I completely agree with this guy about the worst invention ever. Yet somehow nearly all of us have them.
I don’t remember how I found Watching Grass Grow, but it’s just great. Since finding it I’ve been visiting it at least twice a day and it’s always entertaining.
No idea how I found this essay on Baggy Pants, but it was quite an interesting read. That is if you’ve ever wondered where the trend for young males to wear shorts that reach their ankles, parachute pants and so on may have come from. Either way it’s a style I’m strangely mesmorised by.
Oh and there was an excursion to the Gold Coast recently. Surfers Paradise to be exact. Theme parks, Big Brother and shopping. First off we went to Wet n Wild Water World which was awesome, next up we went to Dreamworld which was also awesome. Then we did Big Brother (live eviction show), SeaWorld and finally Movie World. At some point I will go back and complete what I should have done while there, the night life tour. It was very lame of us being there for 1.5 weeks and not going out getting blind drunk. Lame was my favourite word of the trip.
Despite what most people would think the water slide park was really really good, there was so much to do and because the water was heated so it rocked. You just need to make sure the wind isn’t too strong because when you’re wet and waiting in line on top of one of the 5 towers the wind makes you pretty cold. The only down side of that park was you get sore legs from climbing the towers all day. We went on everything we could at cause it was so awesome, our favourite was the black hole, though we did go down mammoth falls a few times. The speed slide you actually go vertical enough to fall off the slide for a section. Oh and on a good sunny day the scenery is pretty ok. Damn it was fun. If only Perth had a decent theme/water park.
At Dreamworld we went on the Rug Rats roller coaster, The Claw, The Giant Drop and The Tower of Terror. It also had tigers and the spongebob live show. But for thrill rides you can’t go past the The Giant Drop or The Tower of Terror. Sure The Claw was good but it’s like any normal prepackaged thrill ride, you go up, you spin and you go down again. Also you can’t beat the weightlessness of the other 2. What can I say, but a ride that does 0-160 in 6 seconds and gives you 4.5 seconds of weightlessness has to be awesome. The giant drop was good too, 130m up a tower it just drops you … 4 seconds of free fall later you slow down pretty quick and get off. Yay. I got the ride photos to prove it too. Dreamworld also has Nickelodeon stuff. The rugrats roller coaster was the sort where your legs fly free at the bottom, but was tame in comparison to all other roller coasters around. I bought 2 shirts.
SeaWorld was probably my least favourite of all 4 theme parks. For rides it was pretty lame, The Corkscrew and a pirate ship like Adventure worlds Bountys Revenge. SeaWorld did have a dolphin show, a waterski show, a seal show, a monorail (which was lame, Sydney’s is better) and a shark tank. Apart from that though it didn’t have that much going for it. It had the a log ride and a water slide (which we didn’t go on) but meh.
MovieWorld had so much we ended up going back for another half day. Superman Escape was awesome, we went on it twice the first day and once the second. 0-100 in 2 seconds they claim and it’s pretty good for a conventional roller coaster. Leathal Weapon, like the rugrats one was a legs fly free type roller coaster, but this one goes upsidedown 5 times and throws you through 2 corkscrews and 2 loop-de-loops where you’re on the outside legs flying through the air. The ScoobyDoo Spooky Coaster had a cool bit where your going thru a darkened shed with a laser light show and pumping music. From there we went on the wild west log ride (twice) because this was the only ride Andrew would go on ! (Talk about lame ass.) We managed to catch a live action looney tunes show, the police academy stunt show and the daily parade all on the same day. The Batman 2 ride was lame, no that’s insulting to lame rides, it was appalling. The funniest part of it was a faulty seatbelt so the ride wouldn’t start. The Shrek 4D adventure was exactly the same as the Shrek 3D adventure, so it didn’t live up to the “totally new adventure” bit the sign promised. Movie world was also very over priced. The shirts cost more ! But I still bought one, and a sombreo of course.
Timezone over there is awesome too, they had mini golf, laser tag, bumper cars and a shooting gallery. Not to mention 2 sets of 8 daytona machines, multiple air hockey tables, pool tables, 3 DDR machines, downhill mountain bike (game), a firefighting game, 4 mario kart machines, a gokart game (with actual kart frame – but it wasn’t adjustable and it was too small for me to play). The other amazing thing was the $25 3 hour combo INCLUDED new release games unlike in Perth. But it was only 2 hours of unlimited games, the 3rd hour was for laser tag and something else. Laser tag was $7.50 normally anyway. I also liked how the guy asked have we been to Timezone before, when we were handing him money and our powerclub cards. grin. I have 250ish tickets on my card for that store, so I’ll have to go back to make use of them, fortunately they don’t expire.
Photos from the trip are all online. The ride photos and selected ones from other peoples albums will be coming soon…
After getting back I discovered my rent was going up $20 a week and I had an inspection on the monday. My first week back at work was boring as, not to mention my new boss getting back to me on development opportunites which didn’t exist. Yep, I’m in a dead end job going nowhere fast AGAIN. Though I have managed to get signed up for a first aid course and a fire fighting course, so maybe not all is lost yet. My first visit back to subway netted me 3 stamps and a 10% off loyalty card, yay for being recognised as a valued customer. At least someone values me !
Currently I’m split between me wanting to buy a place and move there, and wanting to quit my job and get a real job. The pickle is if I buy a place it will be overpriced and cost me an assload for the next 30 years. That versus the quit my job and find something fun but probably lower paying and start enjoying life. Buying a place requires high income which is killing my sanity faster than I’d prefer. Having fun indicates spending money which isn’t ultimately a grand move for setting yourself up in life and so on. I should go back to therapy cause I have many issues that need sorting out.
I don’t know what he did last night, but there’s no hot water, and the toilet’s full of sawdust.
