It’s been a little while since my last frantic post. I say frantic because I didn’t so much compose it as I usually do, so it was sort of more raw uncut than normal. I don’t think I even spell checked it. Since then I’ve been fairly busy on the grand scheme of things, though I have been updating my dvd’s page and my recent viewing sections (bottom of front page). I also put the for sale link up the top because I still have stuff to sell.

My trip offshore and that was loads of fun. I saw Darwin for an afternoon, flew on a EWB-120 turbo prop to Timor Leste (formally known as East Timor) from where I took a Super Puma out to the rig.

After re-entering the country a week later (thus scoring duty free woot) we (I wasn’t alone) spent some hours in the airport pub while waiting for our connecting flight to Perth. After arrival back in Perth I took a few days off and flew to Esperance to meet my half sister and her husband who were here from Qatar.

We lanned in Bunbury, and again in Cragie. Free disk space reduced to near zero and since has gone back up.

I had a rent inspection and my house is cleaner than ever before, and I say my house meaning the place I sleep, because I don’t seem to be there for much more than that.

I’ve started shopping around for a new place to live, but I’m not sure if I want to buy or rent, nor do I know if I want to get a house or an apartment. There are many good points and bad for each option. Only problem is property in Perth is just so damn expensive, but rental values don’t really reflect it, which is a good thing for renting. *ARGH TOO HARD*

I upgraded my fileserver (after selling off most of the old one) and now it’s 1 third the size of the old one, and uses a third of the power. Soon it will be booting from compact flash rather than a small hard drive. That is as soon as I find the time to complete my build scripts.

I’ll be going offshore again, which I’m looking forward to. My new job is working out well, though I’m not really doing anything different, and now I’m ultimately responsible for the tasks I have to look forward to, rather than the endless carrot dangling I had at ISS. My piggy bank is happy I made the switch.
