Update update update

In the space of 3 days I’ve completely recoded this web site (from scratch). Although it’s not apparent to any large degree, stuff now works. The stupid caching problem is gone because there is no cache anymore. Also I’ve removed restrictions on my design through the redesign of the themeing engine. The server stats now works again, however the user accounts are gone, them being a large part of the problem. I don’t see this as a problem since there was no point in having one and I couldn’t be sure why so many people just signed up for one, even people I’ve never heard of or know.

The rom was called F14 Tomcat, but it was really called Advance Wars. It was a really wierd turn based war game. I did play it for about an hour or so but surely that was because there was nothing better to do. My player name was MOO hence Victory is MOO’s!

Project thingo is over

The project presentation is over. It went well. I’m glad it’s over. 3 exams and it’s all over, but before that I’ve got just over 10 days of R and R (or work and work).

The other day windows 2000 installer managed to corrupt my partition table on my laptop, but I fixed it and recovered all 2 gig of data. These things happen aswell. Also the CD I was bitching about losing (at the BGA lan I’m still convinced) also contains win2k Service pack 2 which I no longer have. (I do have a 2k server CD that is SP2, but I wanted 2k Pro SP2)… Not that it mattered.

The post below was written about a week ago, but I hadn’t verified the bashing of some of the GBA games, which I now have, so it’s been posted. Also, I was busy with lots of work to post it until now. I guess you get that too.

It’s been a while again. This time however I found some Gameboy Advance roms and some were kinda funny to play and even to look at. First a few cases in mention.

Chu Chu Rocket!></td> <td>Chu Chu Rocket. On first looks I would think this is something like pac man. But how wrong I was… its a Sega game. It’s a puzzle game involving mice as far as I can tell, which isn’t that much since it’s a Japanese Rom and its been a while since I did any Japanese.</td> </tr> <tr> <td align=Mr Driller 2></td> <td>Mr Driller 2. The picture made me think of the classic came, Dig Dug. It’s not Dig Dug, it’s a wierd game, I couldn’t quite figure out what was going on for the 2 odd minutes I played it, this one was completely in Japanese.</td> </tr> <tr> <td align=Super Dodge Ball Advance></td> <td>Super Dodge Ball Advance made so little sense the first time I looked at it. But with a second try it started making more sense, and I even figured out the keys. Frankly the concept of a <i>Professional Dodge Ball League</i> scares me. Team sports games have never seemed like a good idea for a game, and this one doesn’t change that one bit.</td> </tr> <tr> <td align=Wai Wai Racing></td> <td>Wai Wai Racing. This one is your typical racing cart style game. To me it felt a bit better than Mario Kart on the same platform, though as far as I know this one is only available in Japanese. The tracks seemed more thought out than the early ones of Mario Kart but the gameplay is about the same. Wai Wai Racing does have racing characters with large blue afro’s if thats a plus.</td> </tr> <tr> <td align=Advance GTA></td> <td>Looks like a standard racing game? Maybe even a version of Grand Theft Auto?<br />Well, no surprise it is a racing game, but it’s not GTA (sorry to disappoint). But it was pretty cool for a hand held racing game that looks like an old version of need for speed. However the cars seem to handle like shopping trolleys on gravel but you get that I guess, you can’t have everything.</td> </tr> </table> <p>These Gameboy Advance games are pretty silly, but the others seem quite sound and I’d probably buy one of these things if only the games weren’t full damn price.</p> <p>I’ve made a walk down the usb pathway of recent. The funky usb keyboard I previously said would be mine, well is, after another probelm dealing with <a href=AusPCMarket. It is however a fairly fun keyboard to use, that is if a keyboard can be fun to use.

        THE LESSER-KNOWN PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES #14 -- VALGOL

        VALGOL is enjoying a dramatic surge of popularity across theindustry.  VALGOL commands include REALLY, LIKE, WELL, and Y*KNOW.  Variables are assigned with the =LIKE and =TOTALLY operators.  Other operators include the "California booleans", AX and NOWAY.  Loops areaccomplished with the FOR SURE construct.  A simple example:

        VALGOL is also characterized by its unfriendly error messages.  Forexample, when the user makes a syntax error, the interpreter displays the  message GAG ME WITH A SPOON!  A successful compile may be termed MAXIMALLYAWESOME!
