Work: I've been working a bit lately.

PHP: I've been doing some PHP lately.

Windows 2000 Web Servers: I've been playing with IIS and dealing with WestNet at work.

Databases: I don't like Access as a database. I can get MySQL to work with quite a bit of stuff.

Movie Trips: There was one.

Long Titles: This story has one.

etc

It must be done. Moocow.com. This is a wierd update isn't it, must be the wierd al music I'm listening to.

The lure of an assignment has me back in PHP land riding on a MySQL carpet. And the ride is smooth, really smooth. Combined with the uber l33t HTML-Kit editor and a mobile linux box (running Pine and mICQ) we make a good team, me, myself and I.

bool sessionencode(void);
sessionencode() returns a string with the contents of the current session encoded within.
I always thought bool was boolean and not another type of string but I could be wrong. This has already been corrected in the online manual at the site but the offline version I'm using which I downloaded on the 22-Aug-2000 has this error.

I was playing with a newer version of atheos last night and it's getting heaps better with each release. Now all it needs is PCMCIA support and ... I wonder if micq would compile on it, I don't see why not. Now if only if I could get it to work with an AMD PC-Net network card (then it would run flawlessly in VMWare).

Do I have a life? No probably not, but you get that. I fixed the time being out by an hour. I also discovered the cause and solution of the problem when portland seemed to have changed the user id of the web server, permissions problem on the cache files naturally. I must change my poll, maybe tomorrow.

Mmmm. Redhat 7.1 CD images. Copying off laptop now. Will be burning shortly. I'll probably give it a whirl in vmware just to be sure before making any plans on actually using it. Must check for errata on it too first. (If you can't guess, the linux user group meeting last night went ok).

I've given up on IIS and Access97 for the time being, maybe when I've reinstalled (to fix windows rot) it might be possible. Makes you wonder really why anyone would use Access97 or even IIS. I find apache and mysql on windows (98 too) to be rather good. Also I could do with some of the 20meg of ram that IIS sucks up when it starts.

I haven't watched a movie recently, though I have been dealing with iinet support, which has been nearly as humorous. Must clean desk. I got on icq yesterday using micq ... (need I say more). Currently I'm converting my eudora mbx files to unix mbox format (for use in pine)... (I won't say more)

Updated one of my links down the side. Redhat.aldil.org has moved to Freshrpms.net. Only 1 assignment to go doo daa doo daa.

Mandrake is a rip-off of RedHat with some extra layers of pansyness on top.

Another one Down...

Another RH71 CD image done, sorta 3 to go. Only sorta because I'm getting them over a lan on thursday night... (even though I've got 300 meg of them so far).

Still busy, still working, still no eudora or ICQ, just for a bit longer, bluemidgits still up, disk space is shrinking again, (I found more movies on my dad's computer from a previous stash). I still need to re-install windows. This 194 emails, 130 unread, 1576 kB total suggests that I need to suck down my pop acccont content pretty soon.

IIS isn't connecting to my access database at home still, even after applying 2 service packs to office 97. I'm beginning to think is problem is office related, because the error message is so similar to the one I get when I open any Word document. I'm now trying to uninstall office and reinstall it, but windows doesn't think there is a cd in drive g, though it can eject the disk out of it. grrr whinge. I don't like IIS, it has some handy features, but how the hell do you enable virtual directory support for the web root ?!. Maybe I've spent too many hours editing apache.conf's and stuff.
