Data Communications assignment, 15 questions, Due date 4th May, worth 30% of unit. I’ve done most of the questions, all typed up too.

Network boot disks. Something no one knows how to make yet so many places have them. But What are they?. Well a network boot disk is a single 1.44 MB disk that allows you to boot up a computer and access a network, usually a Microsoft Windows Network (SMB). Sound’s easy, until you try to make one, then try to make one for a laptop. Go on, I dare you. I have one for my laptop now, took me 2 days, but I’ve got one. Now I can use Norton Symantec Ghost on it and store the image on another machine easily. This disk with ghost on it, makes use of PC-DOS, because MS-DOS is far too bloated to use for this purpose (308kb for MS-DOS (version 7.1 (win98) io.sys, msdos.sys, command.com) 136kb for PC-DOS (version 7 ibmbio.com, ibmdos.com, command.com)) Some excellent resources for this task are: Appdeploy.com and Bovistech.com

I haven’t really been around lately, and I haven’t been on the net lately either. I’m not lost or missing so again, don’t send out the search party. I just watched Slayers: The Motion Picture and it was pretty short, just over an hour to be specific. I’ve got 24 movies on my hard disk again, one is a dvd rip waiting to be divxed (only 9gig…), yes, disk space is again tight, but it’s never been this tight, I deleted quake3’s pak0.pk3 file for the space. Time to go to bank… Uni this afternoon. The odd pictures will return when I have more time to update them. (No I haven’t run out yet).

Nothing cures insomnia like the realization that it’s time to get up.

Spanner writes “Well it seems that someone let the chickens out. It is mayhem here at nobhill. Chickens hoing everywhere. I have already informed the national guard but somehow I think it is too late. We are held hostage in our own home and I think the chickens are moving on to the rest of Western Australia. I reckomend you all head to the high ground. Take some cows with you.

Note the spelling errors, I’m at uni now so I don’t have my quotes file here, but I’ll give it a whirl anyway. Odd picture later today.

For the last few day’s Portland (bless their little hearts) made a bit of a boo boo. I think they changed the web servers user id, which stuffed everything of mine up big time (due to the cache files stored on the web server), and produced many errors on tancred’s poll. It seems to be fixed now. I wish they wouldn’t change things like this, it makes one want to find another web host (like zabia.net which is a good example of a bad web host in disguise… (it’s portland in disguise)).

I’m a tutor. Yes, I’m tutoring one of my dad’s friend’s daughter’s in year 11 maths. Differentiation can be so much fun can’t it =)

I watched Perfect Blue last night. It’s another of these subtitled anime movies from uwalan. It was good, freaky but good. I enjoyed it, not much else to say.

Printer subsystem fun today. I haven’t linked to doc yet today, no wait, I just did, hey he changed his background too. FenrisOlf has a weblog now, added the link to the list on the left. 2 updates in an hour, this must be a record, not that I’m going to check it at all.
